GRUBB Foundation: Fifteen Years of Educational Support for Young Roma

The President of East West Bridge, Branko M. Lazarevic, attended a ceremony at The House of Jevrem Grujic in Belgrade, held to mark twenty years of the GRUBB Foundation’s work, at the invitation of H.R.H. Princess Elisabeth Karadjordjevic, a longstanding member of the East West Bridge Advisory Board.

The ceremony was dedicated to presenting the educational work of the GRUBB Foundation, which, through its network of centres, gives children and young people from Roma families — particularly those without the means to educate their children — access to education, art and culture. By connecting learning with creative activities, the Foundation improves school outcomes, opens new employment opportunities and fosters social inclusion. Princess Elisabeth has been a patron of GRUBB for fifteen years, during which she has contributed to transforming the lives of thousands of Roma children and young people across Serbia.

During the meeting, Branko M. Lazarevic shared with Princess Elisabeth information on the current activities of East West Bridge. Support for the GRUBB Foundation’s mission stems from the values that East West Bridge upholds as a platform for dialogue — the conviction that education and equal opportunity form the foundation of a stable and connected society.
