Visit of Members of Donald Trump’s Political Circle to Belgrade in 2018

Belgrade hosted a visit in April 2018 by prominent figures from the political circle of the then President of the United States Donald Trump. Among the guests were Corey Lewandowski and George Gigicos, who traveled to the Serbian capital to participate in discussions focused on contemporary American politics and the prospects for relations between Serbia and the United States.

Their visit included several activities. The central event was a conference dedicated to political developments in the United States following the 2016 presidential election and to possible avenues for strengthening bilateral relations between Serbia and the United States. The event was organized by East West Bridge and TGI – Tsomokos Group International, and brought together representatives of Serbia’s political, academic, and business communities, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and international observers.

In addition to the conference, a number of meetings were held with representatives of public institutions and the business sector. As part of the program, a business luncheon with representatives of the Serbian business community was organized at the Serbian Business Club Privrednik, where participants discussed economic relations, investment opportunities, and prospects for expanding business cooperation between Serbia and the United States.

Corey Lewandowski

Corey Lewandowski is widely known in the United States as the first campaign manager of Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Before joining Trump’s campaign, he worked as a political consultant and activist within the Republican Party. After the election, he continued to participate in public debates on American domestic and foreign policy as a political commentator and strategist.

During his visit to Belgrade, Lewandowski spoke about political changes in Washington following the 2016 election and about the priorities of the Trump administration in international affairs. He emphasized the importance of pragmatic international cooperation and noted that there was room to strengthen relations with partners around the world, including Serbia.

George Gigicos

Lewandowski was accompanied in Belgrade by George Gigicos, an American political strategist specializing in the organization of large political events. Gigicos is the founder of Gigicos Inc., a company focused on the planning and production of political campaigns and major public events.

During Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, Gigicos was responsible for organizing a large number of campaign rallies across the United States. Following the election victory, he participated in the presidential transition team and helped organize the 2017 presidential inauguration. In the early phase of the Trump administration, he served as director responsible for the planning and logistics of presidential events at the White House.

The visit of Lewandowski and Gigicos to Belgrade was part of a broader program of discussions on contemporary political developments in the United States and their implications for international relations. The conference and accompanying meetings provided participants with an opportunity to hear first-hand insights from individuals who had been directly involved in the 2016 presidential campaign and the early phase of the Trump administration.

The discussions focused on understanding the political dynamics in Washington after the election and on exploring potential opportunities for strengthening dialogue and cooperation between Serbia and the United States in the evolving international environment.

During the conference, the American guests spoke about their experiences from the 2016 presidential campaign and about the priorities shaping political decision-making in Washington. They highlighted the importance of pragmatic cooperation, economic engagement, and dialogue between countries in addressing contemporary international challenges.

Their remarks provided participants with insight into how political processes function in Washington and how the new administration approached international partnerships.

The visit attracted considerable media attention in Serbia and the region. The program in Belgrade brought together a large number of intellectuals, members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the business sector, and journalists, making the event one of the more visible public discussions in Serbia that year on contemporary developments in American politics and international relations.
